ATFL NEWS
December 2007
Dear Friends,
Happy Holidays! After the Finish Line™
wishes you a joyful holiday season.
After the Finish Line™ burst out of the starting gate in October to launch this National funding non-profit for Thoroughbred horses that can no longer race or breed. We stand in support of the many rescue and retirement organizations all across the country.
We are proud to add a quote from Trevor Denman on our website, www.afterthefinish-line.org. Trevor is the track announcer for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and Del Mar, Santa Anita and Fairplex Park racetracks. Thank you Trevor! After the Finish Line™ strives to provide a quality of life for these wonderful Thoroughbreds.
In December our third request for
Emergency Funds started off as a donation. The donor requested that we forward
the funds to the Virginia chapter of the US Equine Rescue League, USERL. They
recently seized 8 neglected Thoroughbred ex-racehorses in poor body condition.
Some of these horses had outgrown their racing plates. After the Finish Line™ is grateful to USERL for their dedication in helping these
ex-racehorses.
“The United States Equine
Rescue League would like to send sincere thanks to After the Finish Line in
their support of the 8 Thoroughbreds seized in Clark County, VA in November of
this year. It is only through the help of organizations such as After the
Finish Line™ and individuals that USERL is able to provide for these
wonderful animals.”
-Jennifer Hack, Executive Director USERL

After the Finish Line™ provides both Emergency Funds and Grants to Thoroughbred rescue and retirement organizations. A link to our Grant application is posted on the Contact Page, Contact After the Finish Line, of our website.
As this year passes we look back at all the Thoroughbreds that were given the opportunity to transition into new homes and second careers. We are grateful for the support we received to assist the horses. So often we expect something tangible in return for our good deeds. The meaningful reward for this act of kindness is the ability to give life to animals that are less fortunate. National Day of the Horse is on December 13. Please honor the Thoroughbreds by donating to After the Finish Line™. Visit our website Donation page, Donations to After the Finish Line, for more information.
After the Finish Line™
wishes you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Dawn Mellen, President
After the Finish LineTM
