ATFL News

April 2008

Dear Friends,

After the Finish LineTM is now an official 501(c) (3) non-profit funding organization. Your donations are tax deductible.

If you missed our March newsletter go to, After the Finish Line Links. Our newsletter is also posted on www.afterthefinishline.info.

We are in the process of changing our website address. The new address will be www.afterthefinishline.org. The new and the old address will be linked since we have more press coming out soon with the old address listed.

After the Finish LineTM has a new quote on our website from Fred Stone, the renowned Thoroughbred artist. It is on the Why Donate to After the Finish Line page of our website. You can visit Fred's website at www.fredstone.com. Thank you Fred for your support.

This month After the Finish LineTM gave emergency funds to Orphan Acres in Idaho. They currently have 14 Thoroughbreds in their care. The winter has been long and harsh in Idaho with many winter snowstorms. Our emergency fund donation will help Orphan Acres purchase hay for their horses. After the Finish LineTM has now given grants and emergency funds to rescue organizations in Indiana, Ohio, California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Idaho.

Bill Heller wrote a wonderful article about After the Finish LineTM in the April/May edition of Thoroughbred Style magazine. This magazine will be distributed throughout the United States. A link to the article will be posted shortly when the magazine is distributed. A full page endorsement advertisement about After the Finish LineTM will also appear in the magazine. The San Diego Union-Tribune will soon run a story about After the Finish LineTM.

As a non-profit organization we rely on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations across the United States to support our efforts to help Thoroughbreds that can no longer race or breed. Please recommend After the Finish LineTM to your friends, family and co-workers. The grants and emergency funding provided by After the Finish LineTM will enable the Thoroughbred rescue organizations to save more Thoroughbreds from going to slaughter and rehabilitate them for second careers.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude for your generosity and support of our efforts. I can be reached at dawn@afterthefinish-line.org.

Sincerely,

Dawn Mellen, President
After the Finish LineTM
